Minecraft Player Head Generator
Get any player's head in Minecraft Java with a /give command by username or texture value, with a live preview and /fetchprofile for static heads.
This generator writes the /give command for a player head, either from a Minecraft username or from a texture value copied from a custom-head site. It shows a preview of the face and, for 1.21.9 and later, the /fetchprofile command for a head that never changes.
How to use it
- Pick your game version.
- Choose Player username and type a Java username, or choose Texture value and paste the long base64 "Value" string from a head site.
- Optionally add a custom item name and a count.
- Check the preview, then press Copy command.
Head by username
/give @s player_head[profile={name:"Notch"}]
This gives a head with that player's skin, and the item is called "Notch's Head". From Java 1.21.9 it is a Dynamic head: it loads the player's current skin each time, so it changes when they change their skin. The tooltip shows a grey "Dynamic" line. In earlier versions, the game looked the player up when the head was created.
If no player has that name, the game shows a default skin instead.
Static heads with /fetchprofile (1.21.9+)
To keep a skin as it is right now:
- Run
/fetchprofile name Notch. - Click Give Item in the chat message.
The head you get stores the skin data itself, so it won't change if the player changes their skin. /fetchprofile needs operator permission (level 2). It also accepts id <uuid> or entity <target> instead of a name.
Head by texture value
Custom "decoration" heads, like a globe or a present, are ordinary skins whose face shows an object. Head databases give you a texture value, which is base64 text pointing to a skin on textures.minecraft.net. The command is:
/give @s player_head[profile={properties:[{name:"textures",value:"eyJ0ZXh0..."}]}]
The name field isn't needed. It has been optional in the profile component since 1.20.5. The tool decodes the value to check it points to a Minecraft skin and draws the face from that skin.
Profile component fields
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
name |
Username, looked up from Mojang's servers |
id |
UUID, looked up the same way |
properties |
Skin data you supply (textures value, optional signature) |
texture, cape, elytra, model |
1.21.9+ resource-pack overrides (not used by this tool) |
When properties is present, the name and UUID lookups are ignored.
Version notes
- 1.21.5 and later (including 26.x): custom names are SNBT, for example
custom_name={text:"Lucky Block",italic:false}. - 1.20.5 – 1.21.4: custom names are JSON in single quotes. The profile part is the same.
- Before 1.20.5, heads used the old
SkullOwnerNBT, which this tool doesn't cover.
About the preview
For usernames, the face comes from minotar.net. Names that don't exist show a default face there too. For texture values, the tool loads the skin file from textures.minecraft.net and draws its face and hat layer. The command works whether or not the preview loads.
FAQ
How do I get my own head in Minecraft?
Type your username into the tool and copy the command. It gives player_head[profile={name:"YourName"}].
Why did the head change skin?
Since 1.21.9, heads given by name are dynamic and show the current skin. Use /fetchprofile for a fixed one.
Can I get player heads on Bedrock?
Not with these commands. Bedrock's /give can't set a player profile.
Why is my texture value command too long for chat? Texture values are long. If the command passes 256 characters, paste it into a command block, which takes up to 32,500.
