Minecraft Skin Editor Unblocked: Make and View Skins in Your Browser

November 8, 2026 · 6 min read

On this page

Our free Minecraft skin editor and 3D viewer works in a normal browser tab, with no download, no account and no plugins. It's a regular page on mgame.gg, so it opens on a Chromebook, school laptop, iPad or phone like any other website. Whether a school network allows the site is the school's decision, so we can't promise it's unblocked everywhere.

Open the Minecraft skin editor

What you can do with it

  • View any skin in 3D. Drag to spin the model, and pinch, scroll or use the + and − buttons to zoom.
  • Paint your own. Use Pencil, Eraser, Fill face or Eyedropper on the flat skin texture and watch the 3D model update as you draw. Mirror left/right paints both sides at once, and Undo and Redo fix mistakes.
  • Check every layer. Turn the hat, jacket, sleeves and pants on or off, or tick Walk animation to see the arms and legs swing.
  • Load a player's skin. Type a Java Edition username to load that player's current skin and arm model.
  • Download a PNG that's ready to upload to Minecraft.

Why it works on school devices

  • Nothing to install. The editor and its 3D preview are standard web code that runs inside the browser tab.
  • No account. There's no login, email or gallery to join.
  • Your skin stays on your device. An uploaded PNG opens straight in your browser, and painting and downloading happen there too. Your skin file isn't sent to our servers.
  • Only the username lookup goes online. It asks our server, with a public player-data service as a backup. If that part is blocked, uploading, painting and downloading still work.
Device Notes
Chromebook Works in Chrome; drag with the touchpad, or a finger on a touchscreen
School Windows laptop or Mac Any up-to-date browser; hover over a pixel to see which body part it belongs to
iPad Drag with a finger to rotate and pinch to zoom
Android phone or iPhone Works, but detailed painting is easier on a bigger screen

This isn't a workaround for school filters. Schools choose which websites load on their network and on the devices they manage. If mgame.gg is blocked where you are, ask a teacher or your school's IT staff, or use the editor at home on your own device.

How to make a Minecraft skin

  1. Start with a skin. The editor opens with a sample skin you can paint over. You can also press Upload skin PNG to load your own file, or type a Java username and press View skin.
  2. Pick the arm model. Choose Classic (4 px) or Slim (3 px) before you paint the arms.
  3. Paint the inner layer. This is the body itself. Tick Show layout to see which area of the texture belongs to which body part.
  4. Add details on the outer layer. Hats, hair, glasses and jackets go here, because this layer sits slightly outside the body and can be partly see-through.
  5. Check it in 3D. Spin the model, hide the outer layer to see what's underneath, and turn on the walk animation.
  6. Download. Press Download skin to save the PNG. If your browser doesn't start the download, press Show as image, then right-click it and choose Save image as, or long-press it on a tablet or phone.

Minecraft skin file basics

Detail What to know
Size 64×64 pixel PNG; old 64×32 skins still load and are converted to 64×64
Arm models Classic has 4-pixel arms (sometimes labeled Wide), Slim has 3-pixel arms
Layers Inner layer for the body, outer layer for hats, hair and clothing
Transparency Outer layer only; see-through inner pixels show as black in Java Edition
Not supported here 128×128 HD skins and Character Creator items

The arm model isn't saved in the PNG. You pick it again when you upload the skin, so remember which one you used.

How to use your skin in Minecraft

Java Edition: open the Minecraft Launcher, go to the Skins tab and choose New skin. Pick your PNG, choose the matching arm model (Classic/Wide or Slim) and press Save & Use. You can also upload it from your profile on minecraft.net. If you're already in a world or on a server, you may need to rejoin to see the change.

Bedrock Edition: on Windows, Android or iOS, open the Dressing Room, go to Classic Skins, open your owned skins and choose Import, then pick the PNG and the arm model. Menu names can differ slightly between versions. Consoles don't let you import a skin file this way.

If something doesn't look right

  • Arms have gaps or stripes: the arm model doesn't match the skin. Switch between Classic and Slim.
  • Black patches on the body: those inner-layer pixels are transparent. Paint over them.
  • Username not found: the lookup only searches Java Edition usernames, and players who use a default skin have no custom skin file to load.
  • No 3D model: your browser couldn't start its 3D graphics (WebGL). The flat editor and download still work.
  • The page won't open: the site is probably filtered on that network or device. Ask your school, or try at home.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an unblocked Minecraft skin editor for Chromebook?

Our skin editor runs in Chrome on a Chromebook with nothing to install, like any normal website. We can't promise it's unblocked, because each school decides what its filter allows. If it's blocked, ask your teacher or school IT staff.

Do I need to download anything to make a Minecraft skin?

No. The editor, the 3D preview and the PNG export all run in your browser tab. The only file you download is your finished skin.

Is the skin editor free, and do I need an account?

It's free, and there's no sign-up. You'll only need your Minecraft account when you put the skin on your character in the game.

How do I see someone else's Minecraft skin?

Type their Java Edition username and press View skin. The editor loads their current skin and arm model in 3D, and you can download it as a PNG. You can also browse our Minecraft skins list.

Should I choose Classic or Slim arms?

Use the model the skin was designed for: Classic arms are 4 pixels wide and Slim arms are 3. For a new skin either works, but choose before you paint the arms and pick the same one when you upload it.

Why are parts of my skin black in the game?

Java Edition doesn't allow transparency on the inner layer, so see-through pixels there show as black. Fill them in, and keep see-through details on the outer layer.

Does the skin editor work on iPad and phones?

Yes. Drag with one finger to rotate the model and pinch to zoom. Detailed painting is easier on a tablet or laptop than on a small phone screen.
